Why Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher Won't Be Returning to 'That '90s Show'

ashton kutcher house

Superstar Hollywood couple Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis have built an environmentally friendly modern farmhouse on a six-acre hilltop site above Los Angeles, California. Priced at $10 million, “That 70’s Show” stars bought this property during the pandemic. Located in the beach town of Carpentaria near Santa Barbara, the 31,000-square-foot house sits close to the ocean. Featuring an open floor plan the house enables the couple and their children to view the ocean from every space in the home. Charles brought these elements of contemporary vision into the farmhouse, establishing a space built from private collections and individual objects put in an arranged and desired order.

While most of the OG cast is returning for season two of the spinoff, Kunis confirmed she and Kutcher won’t be returning. Season 1 of the Netflix series premiered in January 2023 and starred a new gang of teenagers. The show is a spinoff of That ’70s Show and focuses on the children of the original cast. Mila and Ashton’s characters briefly appeared in one episode after their son, Jay Kelso, was introduced. “I mean, we did our thing, and they introduced our son in the show and that was, you know, [enough],” Mila told Entertainment Tonight at PaleyFest in an interview published on Monday, April 22.

Fun in the Kitchen

The luxury farmhouse sits on a 6-acre property and is the brainchild of both Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis. The couple worked with architect Howard Backen and interior designer Vicky Charles to bring their dream to life. The two made it a point to make their home sustainable, and it's entirely powered by photovoltaics. They also dug a well on the property to irrigate the land and planted and harvested a field of corn during the coronavirus lockdown.

Mansion in Beverly Hills

Mila and Ashton took a very relatable approach to their home renovation, creating Pinterest boards and sharing their ideas with each other before making any big decisions. Their home is designed by architect Howard Backen, who calls Kunis and Kutcher two of the "smartest, most inquisitive" clients he's ever worked with. Meanwhile, Kunis acknowledges that the process of building the house was no easy feat for a couple to undertake, but luckily, her and her husband's tastes align. “We were obsessed with Soho Farmhouse and other projects Vicky spearheaded. We loved the way she mixed fabrics, patterns, textures—really her whole aesthetic,” Kunis says.

Choosing the Architect and Interior Designer

They hired Backen, who is known for having perfected the "modern farmhouse" look, to help them bring their vision to life. Together with his team, the architect used rustic reclaimed wood, concrete and glass to build the main house, guesthouse/entertainment barn and barbeque pavilion in the backyard. “I got this job because I promised I could make a home for those, shall we say, formidable pieces,” Charles jokes. Ultimately she placed a pair of chairs in the primary bath—thrones for the throne room—and installed the chandelier in the towering entertainment pavilion. “We thought it would be funny to have this incredibly opulent thing hanging in a barn. It kind of takes the piss out of the property,” Kunis says of the improbable crystal confection.

The Ranch actor and the Bad Moms star wanted to make sure their new home was sustainable and eco-friendly. Many of the eye-catching pieces in the newly built farmhouse were already pieces that the couple owned. The iconic 10-foot chandelier that hangs in the barn is hard to miss, and was the main attraction of the duo’s former home. Their eccentric house has been a passion project five years in the making. Ashton and Mila started off by building their own Pinterest boards and seeing what each of their visions looked like. "When we looked at each other's boards, 90 percent of the images we selected were the same, and most of the houses we pinned were designed by Howard [Backen]," the actor said, referring to the architect who ended up designing their home.

“It’s not the craziest idea I’ve had,” Kutcher wrote with an Instagram video of him telling a bewildered Kunis he thought they should invite “complete strangers to come and stay” at their beach house. "We're in a pandemic. We can't have a barbecue, we can't have people over for a pool party. We were just stuck eating corn. We had corn for breakfast, we had corn for lunch, we had corn all... my kids are now made of corn." Thanks to the open plan of the house, you can view the beach from the house which is likely how Kutcher and his family enjoy some amazing sunsets together.

That ’90s Show also stars original cast members Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith, reprising their That ’70s Show characters Kitty and Red, respectively. Netflix renewed the sitcom for a second season ordering 16 episodes, up from the 10 episode order of the first season. In a new interview, the actress revealed that she and Kutcher would not be reprising their That ’70s Show characters when the sequel series returns to Netflix. Ashton Kutcher has distinguished himself in the world of venture capitalism through his firm A-Grade Investments.

Wrought-iron chandeliers and big chesterfields were the wrong clothes for this body,” she adds. Howard Backen is a genius architect known for his work with rustic materials. He worked with interior designer Vicky Charles to bring Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis'dream to life. It’s powered entirely by photovoltaics, and the couple even harvests their own food on the land — a field of corn they planted during the COVID-19 stay-at-home orders. The couple, who tied the knot in 2015 after meeting on the set of "That '70s Show" years before, are opening up their cozy Santa Barbara County, California, beach house on Airbnb. The reservation to stay at the house is free and Kutcher and Kunis will actually be on hand to greet their guests.

"To feel tranquility in a space, everything needs to be in order. If the world around you isn't in order, it's hard to get your brain in order," Kutcher said. Though the bones of the home are rugged and rustic, Charles decided to go for something more contemporary when it came to the decor, complete with plenty of clean lines and modern finishes. "We were obsessed with Soho Farmhouse and other projects Vicky spearheaded," Kunis said. "We loved the way she mixed fabrics, patterns, textures — really her whole aesthetic." At one end of the open living/dining room, a Matthew Cox table with Stahl + Band chairs rests on an antique rug from Woven.

The power couple has struck a chord with architecture lovers all over the world, with their modestly set but beautifully designed farmhouse in Los Angeles. Designed by Howard Backen of Backen & Gillam Architects, the house follows a series of spaces aligned on central access. Vernacular forms and rustic materials used in the flooring, the furniture, and the ceiling ensures a more contemporary feeling to the traditional farmhouse. The Beverly Hills property, which spans six acres of land, was featured on the cover of Architectural Digest‘s June issue. Despite transforming the space to include a main house, guesthouse and entertainment barn — as well as an entire barbecue pavilion — the couple wanted to stay true to their roots. Hyperfocused on sustainability and regenerative farming, Mila and Ashton dug a well on the property to irrigate the land and powered their house entirely with photovoltaics.

"I think we should have complete strangers come and stay with us at the beach," Kutcher says to Kunis in an Instagram video posted to his account on Tuesday. "It's not the craziest idea I've had… stay with us at our beach house and leave like we're old buds!" Kutcher captioned the post. But even with a farmhouse vibe, the property manages to feel glam and lavish at the same time. And judging by the pictures featured in the magazine's June issue, the Hollywood power couple brought that vision to life. "Mila was pregnant with their first child when we began this journey," Charles recalled.

"We spent months looking at materials and colors to find the right visual language. Our conversations were not just about the land and the architecture but also about the future of their family." “Ashton and Mila are two of the smartest, most inquisitive people we’ve ever worked with. We talked about everything from beam sizes to the details of the cross bracing to the junctures of the wood planks and concrete.

A checkerboard floor graces a small kitchen equipped with white cabinets and stainless steel appliances. The design-obsessed duo approached their passion project from a decidedly modest perspective. With 3,100 square feet to decorate, Kunis has her work cut out for her, but this won't be her first time taking on a major home-design project. Earlier this year, the then-pregnant actress starred in an episode of My Houzz, surprising her parents with a condo renovation.

It is 31,000 square feet and is located in the beach town of Carpentaria. From the images above, you can see the crispy tailored tables and plush seating that feels like you'd be seating on air. The architecture of Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher's farmhouse was inspired by French Neoclassical architecture. Some notable characteristics include the grandeur of scale and simplicity of geometric forms. When you think of celebrity homes, a farmhouse is likely the last thing on your mind.

Having grown over the past couple of decades from a low-key get-together for the White House Correspondents Association and its scholarship recipients to one of the premier events on the DC social calendar, the 103-year old WHCD has had a resurgence of sorts the past few years. The Covid pandemic saw the dinner go dark in 2020 and 2021, and the notoriously thin-skinned Donald Trump snubbed the gathering during his entire presidency. Along with SNLs Colin Jost, Biden will be the headliner tonight at the annual gathering of politicians, the journalists who cover them, titans of industry, and celebrities. Deadline was created as a late afternoon political interview and discussion show, similar in style to the network's highly successful morning program, Morning Joe. New: Trump Administration officials were consulted on ‘catch and kill’ well after 2016 Election

The Bidens are visiting the day before the 66th Grammy Awards show. In keeping with the election interference theme, we got the latest indication of how exactly prosecutors intend to make their case. They need to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant had an intent to defraud that includes an intent to commit another crime or to aid or conceal the commission of another crime. That raises the question of what “other crime” the state will cite to the jury.

The legislation gave TikTok a six-month window to find a buyer, which some senators said was too little time. Chinese officials have placed content-recommendation algorithms on what is known as an export-control list, meaning the government has additional say over how the technology is ever sold. "Congress shouldn't be in the business of banning platforms," Ruane said.

The 76-year-old country star died in April 2022, a day before mother-daughter duo the Judds — made up of Naomi and eldest daughter Wynnona — was inducted into Country Music Hall of Fame. The family initially said they lost her “to the disease of mental illness.” Then, weeks later, Ashley Judd confirmed during a “Good Morning America” interview that her mother had used a gun to end her life. Newsom should be a very hot commodity right now, especially after beating the recall by such a huge margin. He might conceivably top the list of prospective Democratic presidential candidates touted by political gossips and others who set the early betting line.

Panel discussions, one-on-one interviews, and brief monologues regularly compose much of the program. Before joining NBC News as an analyst, Wallace served as a co-host of ABC's "The View." Previously, she was White House Communications Director to President George W. Bush. She also served as senior adviser to the McCain-Palin campaign in 2008.

Eve Levenson, the Biden campaign's national youth engagement coordinator, said the physical outreach on campuses is just one part of the strategy for reaching young voters. The campaign is putting a heavy emphasis on targeting college students online through its digital program and paid advertising on major social media apps. She also said there is a major emphasis on reaching young voters who aren't enrolled in college, both through an organizing program and by having a presence at major public gatherings like music festivals and sporting events.

The program permits the U.S. government to collect without a warrant the communications of non-Americans located outside the country to gather foreign intelligence. The reauthorization faced a long and bumpy road to final passage Friday after months of clashes between privacy advocates and national security hawks pushed consideration of the legislation to the brink of expiration. Among the rulings we could get ahead of Nicolle’s sit-down with Biden are ones on the fate of affirmative action and the president’s student loan forgiveness program. Both efforts, backed by the Biden administration, received chilly receptions at oral arguments from the court’s conservative majority. Half of those Republican justices were appointed by Donald Trump, the state and federal criminal defendant whom Biden defeated in the 2020 election and may battle again in 2024.

It mirrors last month's attempt, but it extends the sell-by deadline, now giving TikTok nine months to find a buyer, with the option of a three-month extension if a potential acquisition is in play. TikTok has vowed to take the Biden administration to court, claiming the law would suppress the free speech of millions of Americans. "We know from the conversations we have that young voters are planning to vote, and voters are planning to vote for us," she said. "I think that there are always going to be things that not all people agree with us on. And it's our job to make it clear what the contrast is, what the stakes of this election are. And to remind people of that."

Two White House officials noted that the number of speeches for Biden and Harris is similar to the two previous years. By comparison, when then-President Barack Obama was seeking re-election in 2012, he delivered addresses at the Air Force Academy, Barnard College and Joplin High School. That same year, then-Vice President Biden spoke at West Point and high schools in the battleground states of Virginia and Florida. The 56-year-old also opened up about her own mental health struggles and successes. She experienced childhood depression after being molested at age 7, she said, and, because of that she knew well the feeling of “not wanting to be here.” However, she started treatment in for her unresolved childhood grief and sexual trauma.

"There needs to be a recognition that we're working seriously toward a permanent cease-fire. There needs to be recognition that we're moving toward a two-state solution. There needs to be recognition that we do everything humanly possible to free the hostages and give people dignity." While the situation in Gaza may not be high on the list of topics identified by young voters as priorities, Della Volpe compared it to an issue like climate change where if a candidate doesn't share their view, voters won't engage with them on other issues. Blanche, you’re losing all credibility.” It should go without saying that that’s a bad thing for a lawyer to hear, especially at this early stage of the trial. But there's much more lawyering to be done on both sides as this case heats up. After opening statements Monday, prosecutors called their first witness, David Pecker. The former National Enquirer publisher made sense as an opening act. He was there from the start of the alleged “catch and kill” scheme ahead of the Stormy Daniels hush-money payoff and the alleged cover-up of the reimbursement to Michael Cohen of that payoff. (Trump has pleaded not guilty and denied having an affair with Daniels.) Again, the falsifying business records charges are for allegedly covering up Cohen’s reimbursement, not the hush-money payment itself.

Apart from president, there is no bigger job in American politics than leading the wealthiest and most populous state in the country. Ronald Reagan used Sacramento as his stepping stone to the White House and others tried. Jerry Brown ran for president three times, and probably would have done so again in 2016 if his age, 78 at the time, hadn’t caught up with him. For well over half a century, the office of California governor has had a sort of magical quality, transforming even the most wooden occupant — think George Deukmejian or Gray Davis — into presidential timber. President Biden has signed a law that gives ByteDance up to a year to fully divest from TikTok, or face a nationwide ban. He also said Biden should not be reluctant to address the issue directly with young voters. "Gaza is a challenging issue. And we can't just wish it away," he said in an interview. "It would be wrong to think that's not impacting organizers and activists who are engaged in helping get support for the president." "One of the first things that a young person tells me is that they don't feel understood," Della Volpe said.

"They should be working to enact comprehensive privacy legislation that protects our private data no matter where we choose to engage online." The sentiment was echoed by Kate Ruane, who runs the Center for Democracy & Technology's Free Expression Project, who said the law is unconstitutional and a blow to free expression in the U.S. The measure was tucked into a bill providing foreign aid for Israel, Ukraine and Taiwan. The law stipulates that ByteDance must sell its stake in TikTok in 12 months under the threat of being shut down.

Further litigation over applying the justices’ new immunity test to Trump’s case could add even more delay to the already-delayed case. One of the major changes detractors had proposed centered on restricting the FBI’s access to information about Americans through the program. Though the surveillance tool targets only non-Americans in other countries, it also collects communications of Americans when they are in contact with those targeted foreigners. Sen. Richard J. Durbin of Illinois, the No. 2 Democrat in the chamber, had been pushing a proposal that would require U.S. officials to get a warrant before accessing American communications. But some have pushed back, including Democratic Sen. Edward Markey of Massachusetts. He said on the Senate floor on Tuesday that there is "no credible evidence" that TikTok presents a real national security threat just because its parent company is based in China.

MSNBC HIGHLIGHTS

Meanwhile, GOP appointees like Justice Samuel Alito sounded more concerned with presidents facing criminal accountability than with the dangers of presidents committing crimes with impunity. “This reauthorization of Section 702 gives the United States the authority to continue to collect foreign intelligence information about non-U.S. Persons located outside the United States, while at the same time codifying important reforms the Justice Department has adopted to ensure the protection of Americans’ privacy and civil liberties,” Garland said in a statement Saturday. The House passed a bill to reauthorize and reform a government surveillance tool without including broad restrictions on the FBI’s use to search for Americans’ data. The legislation that was approved 60 to 34 with bipartisan support would extend for two years the program known as Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. Last fall, Harris conducted what the White House called a "Fight for Our Freedoms" tour of colleges, where she visited nine different campuses and spoke to a combined 15,000 students. Biden has held some recent events at smaller colleges, with small and carefully vetted audiences. Large-scale campaign-style rallies on or near campuses have been a staple of general election campaigns, especially for Democratic candidates, but the Biden campaign has been focusing on more intimate gatherings that can be filmed and distributed by its digital team. Another White House official declined to preview how Biden might address the campus unrest. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters this week that Biden always views these addresses "as a special time to deliver a message — an encouraging message, a message that's hopefully uplifting to the graduates and their families."

Needless to say, I’ll be curious to see how the president reacts to any of these rulings and, more broadly, to the court that struck down abortion rights and whose public approval has sunk amid ethical scandals and calls for reform. The lawmakers had demanded that Schumer allow votes on amendments to the legislation that would seek to address what they see as civil liberty loopholes in the bill. In the end, Schumer was able to cut a deal that would allow critics to receive floor votes on their amendments in exchange for speeding up the process for passage. Reece says even simple questions, like someone asking her how she slept, gives her an opportunity to connect about mental health. National intelligence laws in China would require ByteDance to hand over data on Americans if authorities there sought it, but TikTok says it has never received such a request. Any company, or set of investors, angling to purchase TikTok would have to receive the blessing of the Chinese government, and officials in Beijing have strongly resisted a forced sell.

Next week, Trump’s criminal trial continues in its second week of testimony. The Supreme Court, meanwhile, is done with arguments for the term and now has a thick stack of appeals to decide. Beyond Trump’s weighty case, the justices have many crucial disputes to resolve by their unofficial late June deadline on abortion, guns and much more. If they wait until the end to decide Trump v. United States, that will push a pre-election trial in Washington to at least the precipice of the November election, further emphasizing that the defendant is running to stay out of prison. But members on the House and Senate intelligence committees as well as the Justice Department warned that requiring a warrant would severely handicap officials from quickly responding to imminent national security threats. Still, officials had said that court approval shouldn’t be a substitute for congressional authorization, especially since communications companies could cease cooperation with the government if the program is allowed to lapse.

San Diego Museums & Landmarks Historic Whaley House Tours

whaley house

While it’s true that the home was beautiful, the horrors that followed after the birth of Thomas’ son, Thomas Jr., was beyond belief. His son soon contracted Scarlet Fever and died just eighteen months after his birth. Not soon after that, a fire broke out and destroyed part of the Whaley home that Thomas was using as a general store. This blog post has a primary focus of the deaths of The Whaley House.

Ghost Tours

As a kid, I would go on field trips to the Old Town and more often than not did we go on the ghost tour. I wasn’t a believer in ghosts until I went on the Whaley House ghost tour. Approximately 30 to 40-minute guided tour through the historic Whaley House and the surrounding grounds. District officials said the move to close schools is being driven by declining enrollment, not budget woes. Whaley’s entrepreneurial spirit and sharp business acumen, acquired in part from his education at the Washington Institute, helped him flourish in San Francisco.

San Diego's most historic and haunted home.

(They also refer to the outhouse as the “water closet” in case you read the court transcript and get confused.) She was brought inside by her father and died in the back parlor. Violet married George T. Bertolacci and had a double wedding with her sister, Anna Amelia in January 1882. Reports say George was a con artist and only married Violet for her money. Nevertheless, the marriage failed and the couple’s divorced a year later in 1883 (Source).

Whaley House (San Diego, California)

This presence is believed to be James — he was known to torment the living by leaving muddy footprints and stomping on the floor into the later hours of the evening. The Whaley House was considered a mansion during its time and has served the community as a general store and even a theater. However, the time between the home’s changing faces was filled with chaos and heartache.

The Haunted Side of the Whaley House

From there, your tour guide will introduce you to the Whaley family and the legends surrounding them. The Whaley House Museum is known for both its connections to history and rumors of ghosts being spotted in the house and around the grounds. Visitors interested in either aspect of the house will find a lot to enjoy during their trip.

GET TIMES OF SAN DIEGO BY EMAIL

The San Diego County government had been renting a portion of the Whaley House for its offices and records. Whaley offered several times to sell the house to the county, but the offer was ignored. New Towners demanded that the county offices and records be moved to New Town.

Family History

Viewed as an integral part of Old Town San Diego since 1857, the Whaley House offers you a glimpse into the past. With more than a century in the making, the Whaley House holds an impressive amount of San Diego heritage, from the rough and tough times of early California statehood to the flourishing center of San Diego tourism. Learn the history behind the mystery of San Diego’s legendary Whaley House. Although the Whaley family’s unfortunate past plays a key role in the Whaley House’s haunted history, many believed the home was destined doomed to be a paranormal location before construction even began.

Thomas Whaley Jr.

Thomas Whaley capitalized on his success by establishing his own store on Montgomery Street. After an arson-set fire destroyed his buildings on Montgomery Street in May 1851, he relocated to San Diego upon the advice of Lewis Franklin, a merchant who operated stores in San Francisco and Old Town San Diego. The original Whaley House began to fall into complete disrepair in the years that followed. Thomas Whaley’s son, Francis, took over restoring the Whaley homestead. Instead of making it his home, Francis turned it into a tourist attraction and promoted its history while serenading guests with his guitar.

The Whaley House was a central pillar amongst the Old Town San Diego community. From 1857 to the early part of the 20th century, the Whaley House became the gathering place for the entire San Diego community. Besides being the Whaley family home, it was also San Diego’s first commercial theater, the second county courthouse, and a bilingual general store. The home became such an integral part of the community that it was later the focal point in a battle between Old Town residents and New Town residents.

These have included showcases of personal belongings from one of the house’s original residents, made public while they are on loan from San Diego County. Not only is it located nearby, but the Cosmopolitan Hotel is over 200 years old, so it’s another example of living history in San Diego. The Whaley House has the distinction of being the Most Haunted House, not just in Southern California, but in all of America! In the evenings, you can take a ghost tour for the chance to see a specter yourself. NotesPlease plan appropriately for the historic attributes of the Whaley House Museum including stairs and uneven grounds.

It was there where he sold hardware and woodwork from his family’s New York business, Pye & Whaley, as well as offering mining equipment and utensils on consignment. Born on October 5, 1823, the young entrepreneur came from a Scots-Irish family, which immigrated to Plymouth, Massachusetts in 1722. Alexander Whaley, his great-grandfather, was a gunsmith and participated in the Boston Tea Party. It was during the Revolutionary War where he provided flintlock muskets for soldiers and the use of his house on Long Island by General George Washington.

20 Concrete Patio Ideas

concrete patio design

Concrete is especially ideal for garden spaces as it can be poured to take nearly any shape. This means that you can create winding pathways, garden beds, and other shapes that fit into the garden aesthetic. While the material itself may not feel natural, it can adapt to fit the space, so it doesn’t have to be a distraction either. There are a lot of ways to integrate some wood into your patio design. You can create built-in benches, buy wooden furniture, build pergolas overhead, or butt the patio up to a wooden structure like a house or fence. Consider some of the ideas below while keeping your patio area in mind, and see if a wooden accent would be possible for you.

Simple and Sweet

If your backyard space is sloped, you might be frustrated into thinking your options are limited. The truth is that you can use a tiered concrete patio design to make several levels in your backyard that each serve a different function. There are several ways to build fire pits, but you need to choose one that compliments your concrete patio design. You can do this with cinderblocks, bricks, or by using forms and pouring concrete. Whatever your choice of fire pit material, this can be a great addition to a patio. We’ve put together ten categories of concrete patio design ideas for you to take a look at.

Choose a Patio Set

Concrete pavers are individually placed bricks that can provide a variety of designs and colors. Because of the nature of the labor involved and the cost of materials, a patio made from pavers can cost an estimated $4 - $20 per square foot, depending on the size and detail of the design. This cost is related to labor, the materials chosen (composite, pressure treated, hardwood), and the amount of detail involved in the design. Although a wood deck can give you an attractive finished product, it can be an expensive option when compared to the features offered with a concrete patio. A 20-foot by 20-foot concrete patio runs between $2,000 to $6,000, including labor and materials. Adding decorative finishes and colors could make the price even higher.

Black and White Bedroom Ideas Perfect for a Modern Edgy Space

Then a brilliantly brutalist design like this might be the way forward. It's full of fuss-free urban charm and provides the ideal backdrop for a chic selection of furniture. Like a wood deck, it is ideal to power wash and keep your concrete patio clean. A solid slab of concrete will be the easiest to maintain as there are no grouts or spacing for weeds to get through. However, paver stones and slabs are still more easily maintained than wood. Creating a sunk-in patio space allows for different heights and dimensions to a backyard oasis.

What is stamped concrete and how is it different from regular concrete?

An outdoor rug helps anchor furniture and define a seating or dining area, and it's also a great way to continue a color scheme or hide cracks in the concrete. Install a fire pit on a concrete patio so you can roast marshmallows and enjoy its cozy ambience. Consider the shape, size, and materials used in your patio to determine the type and style of the fire pit for a cohesive outdoor design and plenty of clearance around it. Take a look through these concrete pool patio ideas before you try to pull off the ultimate backyard bash. A few styling cues from these awesome patios and you’ll have the inspiration you need to throw an awesome summer banger.

For the most interesting looks, use materials with different textures and shapes. You don't have to stick to traditional designs when it comes to your concrete patio ideas; square concrete pavers provide all kinds of creative opportunity. If you’re looking for concrete patio ideas on a budget, you can make your concrete patio pop with color. Gazebos and covered porches will cover your outdoor living space and protect it from most elements.

Pair Brick With Wood

Dramatically enhance the aesthetic appeal of your home by complementing your pavers with lights. Paver lighting helps to create a more unique and functional outdoor space. They are an excellent solution for pathways or driveways that need an element of light for safety, comfort or visual enhancement. Concrete is not the only option for your patio, but it may be the most cost-efficient. Decorative concrete on your patio can mimic the look and feel of many other surfaces such as pavers and wood decking.

Patterns & Colors for Your Stamped Concrete Patio

And if you leave a clean imprint, about 3/16 to ¼ inch deep, then you can begin stamping. An alternative test is to place a stamp on the concrete and step on it. It must hold your weight and not slide around or sink very heavily into the surface. This patio layout features a pool and a fountain to let you do just that. The white door and green walls look great against the concrete floor.

Brown-colored flagstone stampings on a concrete patio are just beautiful. You can give a concrete slab the look of a faux-tile floor by using a concrete saw to cut it into a checkerboard or diamond pattern enhanced by contrasting colors of stain. This elegant look is ideal for formal outdoor living rooms and can often be color matched to an interior tile floor. Raised garden bed ideas might conjure up whimsical images of cottage-style gardens at first thought.

When situated near a pool deck or under a pergola, it truly becomes an outdoor living haven. Connect it to the rest of your backyard with walkways for a lounging retreat. Homeowners can also use the patio as a setup for an outdoor kitchen or an enclave for a gazebo. Those seeking a private nook on an existing patio can play up hardscape design or add a fire pit for coziness by making the space into a sunken outdoor living room. Some concrete contractors estimate that stamped concrete costs one-third less than the cost of other materials.

According to data from Facebook Marketplace, “patio furniture” is one of the top three searches in the last three months. Items like metal tables and chairs are very easy to makeover with elbow grease and spray paint. You can easily fill your patio spaces with seating for a fraction of the price. Switch things up and position a rug on an angle to add a modern edge to your patio.

For instance, you can intersperse them with gravel or greenery for a unique look. Pavers can also be less susceptible to cracking than large stretches of paved concrete. And if they do, they're much easier to replace, which can save costs in the long run. Our guide on how much does a patio cost has more advice if you're budgeting for a new landscaping look. Black and pale grey is always a winning color combo for modern-style plots and will never go out of fashion.

If you’re planning to utilize a tinted liquid release agent, add the tint one day or two beforehand, if possible. Before you begin stamping, check to see if the concrete has reached the right stage of plasticity. If you start stamping very late, not only will concrete stamping require more work, you will also produce little or no texture with the stamps, especially as you get to the end of the task. Press your finger into the concrete surface at several spots on the slab.
